Holding a great legacy, commencing with its founder Albrecht Baumer in Wuppertal, the company thrived post-WWII reconstruction in Freudenberg by 1949.

The transformation under Hans Gunther Schuster shifted the focus from clothing industry cutters to innovative foam processing solutions, cementing the company’s global reputation for quality and advanced technology. Today, Baumer is regarded as a pioneer in specialized machinery for polyurethane foam processing.

Today, Baumer employs over 400 staff members primarily based in Germany, with subsidiaries in the U.S., Japan, China and Poland. This global presence allows it to cater to a wide array of international markets while continually expanding its reach and influence.

The company boasts an impressive line-up of 40 machines, each tailored to meet different machinery needs within the foam industry. From vertical cutting, splitting, roll compression to shaping, Baumer showcases diverse options for different use cases. Its universally usable Infinity Comfort helps in endless cutting of long blocks and the production of foil. The company’s fully automatic BZM-I is a vertical cutting machine that embeds a space-saving model to trim, prepare, cut to length and divide blocks. BSM, a horizontal splitting machine processes medium-hardness materials to sheets. Its roll compression machine ROK helps compress and pack foam rolls for storage and transport. MDK-2, the company’s edge-rounding machine, cuts edges with a height between 70 and 200 millimetres precisely.

Baumer also provides a broad range of software solutions developed specifically for the foam industry like Quick Select for order picking and WinCAP for creating cutting programs. The company’s SOPHIE is the first intelligent and self-learning MES designed for the foam industry. It enables fully digitalized foam production, leading to sustainable production and process optimizations. SOPHIE interconnects the entire foam production process, collects machine, plant data and renders it transparent for rapid use, increasing productivity and making companies more competitive.
The company actively attends to customer queries and provides excellent support with experienced specialists in mechanical, electrical and software engineering. Baumer offers preventive maintenance measures and quality service that includes machine upgrades, spare parts supply and cutting tools adapted to various materials and techniques.

In recent years, 85 percent of the company’s staggering turnover of 55 million euros has come from international business. At this juncture, the growing demand for innovative foam solutions in the Polish market led Baumer to open its new subsidiary located in Oborniki. It marks an important step in the company’s international expansion.

The company has been honored with the prestigious German Design Award in the product design category for its innovative Contour V blade, marking Baumer’s outstanding and exemplary design incorporation in its products.
