Jason Rathbun, Managing DirectorDespite this, timely delivery and support challenges remain consistent in the industrial vacuum sector. As a result, top companies struggle to acquire reliable and cost-effective equipment and access knowledgeable and timely support.
A medium-sized, family owned and operated global company, Becker recognizes the importance of addressing these challenges head-on.
“Our team is trained to be consultative, creative, and caring so that we can offer innovative customer-oriented solutions,” says Jason Rathbun, the Managing Director of Becker Pumps Corp.
Becker has the resources and operational strengths of a global industrial equipment manufacturer while still maintaining flexibility and values. This has been contributing to its success for almost 140 years.
With over 1,000 employees globally, the Becker family places a strong emphasis on personal connections and care for each individual within the company. This familial approach is evident in the daily interactions employees have with customers, as well as among colleagues across various departments and Becker locations around the world. While many companies sell vacuum equipment, Becker distinguishes itself as a true partner through comprehensive customer support. Its holistic support includes pre-sales consultations, expert installation, and troubleshooting, live customer support, top-notch factory repair, expanding mobile service, and a competitive selection of replacement pumps and OEM parts. The company offers long-term and best-in-class products.
For example, Becker helped a printer struggling with frequent breakdowns and malfunctions of their pumps. The company was incurring substantial costs by repeatedly calling an external service center for repairs. Upon investigation, a Becker area manager discovered that the root of the problem was the incorrect sizing of the pumps being used. They purchased Becker pumps fitting for their process and saved thousands of dollars yearly in service/repair fees. In another example, Becker helped an automobile parts manufacturer that was struggling to maintain several oil-lubricated pumps for thermoforming applications. The company’s area manager was able to watch the process and understand the specific issues the customer was experiencing. The required vacuum level was too low for a lubricated vane pump. The problems were solved by selecting the proper oil-less rotary vane pump.
Our team is trained to be consultative, creative, and caring such that we can offer innovative customer-oriented solutions
Unlike its competitors, who may decline support based on a ‘not ours’ mentality when it comes to spare parts, accessories, and electrical components, Becker works with existing and potential customers, regardless of the pump or technology they use. When clients reach out to Becker, the company leaves no stone unturned to find a satisfactory solution. Its technical support team also collaborates with universities to help advance existing vacuum processes or troubleshoot new applications.
What assists Becker in creating a close-knit community with the clients is the collaborative culture that the company has cultivated over the years. Each department—from its shop to the leadership team—is vested in ensuring clients’ needs are fulfilled in a seamless manner. Although a global company, employees attend the personal events in each other’s lives and extend support during bad times.
As Becker navigates the novel changes in the industrial vacuum space, it’s this culture that remains the company’s anchor, guiding it through every challenge and triumph.
