Continuous advancements in industrial automation are expanding the application of contract manufacturing. This shift comes with its set of hurdles, as companies often face financial constraints, struggle to cope with the demand for mass customization, and face seemingly insurmountable odds when innovating production and packaging processes.

At the forefront of mitigating these issues is Dukay Laboratory, a company dedicated to helping clients overcome their contract manufacturing challenges through a validated, compliant, and expert-backed services suite.

Founded by professionals from the chemical and industrial area, Dukay is one of the largest contract manufacturers in Chile, offering contract filling for cosmetic, household, and industrial products. Today, the laboratory has grown to incorporate 12,000 square meters of shop floor with more than 30 packaging lines thanks to solid support from its global partners and clients.

The vast production capacities, targeted investment, consistent ISO certifications, and flexible manufacturing schedules enable the company to attract many multinational players like Unilever, Avon, and 3M. It has a portfolio of over 30 national and international clients spanning Latin America, the U.S., and Europe.

“We develop long-term client relationships through our comprehensive portfolio of capabilities and services that cater to their needs across a wide range of products,” says Alvaro Bardon, general manager at Dukay Laboratory.

From a manufacturing standpoint, Dukay has a production capacity of more than 50 million units annually. Its proficiency in bringing various products to the market is powered by state-ofthe- art chemical reactors that produce batches of viscous products or hydro-alcoholics ranging from three quintals to ten tons.

On the packaging side, the company offers tubes, bottles, bag-on-valve (BOV), aerosols and more for its many products. Complementing this is an 8000-square-meter warehouse featuring over 3500 pallet positions and a computerized inventory control system, enabling Dukay to efficiently handle large product quantities.

These proficiencies strengthen its position as a go-to contract manufacturer capable of coping with the increasing demand for cosmetics, household, and industrial products of varying shapes and sizes.

Dukay’s emphasis on maintaining the highest standards of quality and testing throughout all processes is exemplified by its implementation of quality control (QC) at the start and end of a production or packaging cycle.

Its prowess is highlighted through a client collaboration, wherein a manufacturer wanted to mitigate the problems that led to the closure of their large-scale production plant. Initially, Dukay worked with them to start constructing a new plant that effectively bypasses the difficulties of the older one. During the first six months, it efficiently absorbed their production plant volume to help the client maintain timelines and contractual obligations. Once the new facility was completed, the client immediately recognized the improvement in the output and performance of their production over their failed plant.

Harnessing 20 years of rich experience in the technical, operational, and marketing aspects of contract manufacturing, Dukay works hand-in-hand with clients and adapts to their processes and policies, resulting in long-term relationships.

Driven by these competencies, Dukay is advancing contract manufacturing beyond the current threshold and making innovation in production and packaging accessible. Moving forward, with more stringent standards and certifications to uphold, it aims to continue boosting contract manufacturing innovation and develop more impactful products and services.
