For most organizations, purchasing a new vacuum furnace can be a daunting task. Businesses have to analyze not only the commercial aspects like equipment pricing but also go through a variety of technical specifications, metallurgical requirements, performance parameters, energy consumption and utility requirements, to name a few. On top of that, manufacturers often try to push their standardized equipment that doesn’t always truly address a client’s needs. Especially inexperienced buyers of heat treatment equipment can find it challenging to navigate this overwhelming amount of information and make the best decision. On the other hand, experienced buyers that know exactly what they want sometimes struggle to find suppliers that have the technical know-how as well as the capability to deliver a truly tailored solution, forcing them to settle and make some compromises. In both cases a reliable partner with a strong technical team and the ability to engineer a custom solution, fully addressing a customer’s needs, all at a competitive price point is a tremendously valuable asset.

Furnacare is positioned in the marketplace to fill this void as a premium supplier of new equipment and services with the ability to custom engineer and tailor furnaces and other heat treatment equipment to client’s specific requirements. “Rather than selling standardized equipment to clients, we help them by engineering the right furnace that truly solves their heat treatment pain points,” says Jan Philipp Massholder, Managing Director, Furnacare. The company also brings to the fore a wide field of expertise in terms of troubleshooting and servicing furnaces. At the same time, Furnacare is known for its excellent responsiveness to client needs.

Furnacare is the offspring of one of Europe’s leading vacuum furnace companies, TAV Vacuum Furnaces, based in Northern Italy, and the service organization TAV Engineering. While TAV Vacuum Furnaces, with its history of almost four decades of manufacturing vacuum heat treatment equipment, is strongly established as a supplier of high-end vacuum furnaces in the European and Asian markets, Furnacare was established to serve North America. “Ourgoal is to offer the same high-quality custom engineered solutions for a multitude of heat-treating needs to our customer here in North America, along with the premium service they deserve,” says Massholder.

Furnacare has the ability and the know how to address a multitude of customers’ vacuum heat treatment needs from traditional heat treatment and vacuum brazing, over aluminum brazing, aluminizing as well as diffusion bonding, to advanced ceramics, debinding, and vacuum sintering. “We supply a huge variety of furnaces in all sizes and configurations to our customers and with our strong R&D team as well as collaborations with universities and other research institutions we ensure we’ll remain at the forefront of state-of-the-art heat treatment,” explains Massholder.

Further, he explains about a customer who was seeking a heat treatment solution for their high value quality products and recently worked with Furnacare despite higher equipment prices than other competitors. "We focus on smart and customized solutions along with providing quick response rates and on time delivery, that sets us apart from others in the market. We offer the greatest value to our customers," says Massholder. In addition, Furnacare’s team of experts offer exceptional service to its clients. Essentially, the company’s team consists of experienced professionals, most with engineering degrees, that gives an added advantage of tackling customer’s problems from a technical point of view.

On the service side, Massholder highlights a recent success story where a client was facing issues with their furnace. The client hada leakin their vacuum furnace that caused discoloration oftheir parts. For any furnace, the presence of oxygen usually leads to contamination of parts, making them often unusable. The manufacturer of the furnace was unable to find a leak, creating a long downtime for the customer. The disappointed customer approached Furnacare that managed to be on site within 48 hours and identified the leakin half a day. It also quickly replaced the damaged components and fast-tracked the entire process for the customer. "The client was extremely happy with our service, which is a testimony to our quick response time and experienced team," says Massholder.

With a focus on expanding geographically while maintaining high levels of service, Furnacare is looking at strengthening its position as a first-class service provider by hiring highly trained technicians. Similarly, the company aims at covering more markets when it comes to sales. “We want to be as close to our customers as possible,” says Massholder. Adjacently, since Furnacare is an engineering-focused company, it will further invest in supporting and educating customers on all technical aspects of heat treatment, maintenance, and operation of their equipment. “At the end of the day, we want to empower our customers with the best service and support for their heat treatment needs. From finding spare parts, over trouble shooting issues, to purchasing new equipment, Furnacare is here to help,” adds Massholder.
