The injection molding and blow molding are combined in injection stretch blow molding. A threaded bottleneck is initially created by molding the plastic into a solid preform. The preform is inserted into a stretch blow mold machine when cooled. The preform is then pumped into a plastic container with compressed air and reheated using an infrared heater.

The Injection Molding Process
Higher volumes of plastic items, ranging in size from big to small components requiring micro-precision accuracy, are manufactured via injection molding.
Injection molding encompasses various manufacturing techniques, including insert molding, over molding, thermoplastic injection molding, cold runner molding, and hot runner molding.
Thermoplastic Injection Molding:
The thermoplastic polymer used in injection molding turns into a liquid when heated. Thermoplastics can revert to a liquid state once they have cooled, unlike thermoset plastics that solidify permanently.
Overmolding:
Overmolding, or two-shot molding, is a technique used to increase a product's performance or longevity by covering an injection mold with a different material, such as metal. A popular overmold material is thermoplastic elastomer (TPE), which resembles rubber. The handle grips of a toothbrush illustrate an application of TPE overmold. Additionally, items with parts created from many injection molds can be sealed using over molds.
Insert Molding:
Insert molding is an injection molding method that joins two or more components to create a single completed product, much to over-molding. By inserting an element into the injection mold cavity, insert injection molding fills the space around the insert with plastic. Inserts can increase a product's strength and remove the need for extra parts to lighten weight.
Cold Runner Injection Molding:
The runners in cold runner molds inject plastic resin into the mold cavity using a sprue. The pieces and runner system are fixed in two-plate molds, and the pair can be extracted from the mold using an ejection mechanism. By recycling and regrinding the material, the cold runner can cut waste, but this can also lengthen the cycle time. A large range of polymers can be employed with cold runner systems, which provide simple color changes.
Hot Runner Molds:
Hot runner molds fill the mold chamber by passing melted plastic resin through a gate after it has been heated in a manifold. Hot runner molds come in two primary varieties: internally and externally heated. While internally heated hot runner molds offer superior control over material flow, externally heated molds can be employed with polymers less susceptible to temperature changes.
Hot runner molding reduces possible waste material because it doesn't require runners and doesn't affect the overall run cycle time when recycling and regrinding virgin plastic.
