Extrusion Molding
Extrusion blow molding can be done continuously or sporadically. During continuous extrusion blow molding, a parison is constantly fed into the mold, and each form is chopped off with a blade as it forms. The new plastic is injected into the mold only after the previous plastic has been evacuated during intermittent extrusion blow molding. After cooling, each fresh plastic is removed from the metal mold.
Extrusion blow molds can be produced significantly faster and cheaper than injection blow molds. They are best suited for shorter runs. Shorter manufacturing times and cheaper tooling costs are benefits; however, poorer control over wall thickness and an increased quantity of scrap are usually disadvantages.
Spin Trimming
Because of the nature of the molding process, goods frequently have surplus material that must be eliminated by rotating a knife around the box and cutting it away. The excess plastic is then recycled to manufacture new molding.
Spin trimmers can cut various materials, including PVC, HDPE, and PE+LDPE—the physical qualities of multiple materials influence trimming. Amorphous material moldings are far more difficult to trim than crystalline material moldings. Titanium-coated blades last longer than conventional steel blades.
Injection Stretch Blow Molding
An injection stretch blow molding technology is commonly used to make soda bottles. The method begins with the usage of an injection-molded component. Stretch blow molding machines typically use pre-heating, axial stretching, and blowing to give the good its final shape.
Single-stage procedures are further classified into three- and four-station devices. In the two-stage injection stretch blow molding operation, the plastic is first shaped into a "preform" using the injection molding technique. These preforms are made from bottlenecks with threads (the "finish") on one end.
