In an industry with shifting environmental regulations, changing consumer demands and the necessity for advanced technological solutions, Nippon Paint has positioned itself as a key provider of progressive responses. Addressing health risks linked to hexavalent chromium, as identified by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), it has developed chromium-free primers for coil coatings. It tackles growing concerns over volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and environmental sustainability. This primer eliminates users’ health risks, delivering superior corrosion resistance and enhanced mechanical properties surpassing industrial oil-based primers.

Nippon Paint’s advanced coatings business unit has developed the NP SunRise^® 3C coating solution with low-VOC, high-solid oil-based and water-based products to reduce the use of chemical raw materials and harmful substances in 3C (computers, communications and consumer electronics) products. Such UV coating solutions increase customers’ mass production efficiency from several hours to 10 minutes. This reduces the total energy consumption by 30 to 50 percent during the process.

Another groundbreaking product is Nippon Paint Marine’s AQUATERRAS ^®. It is a biocide-free, self-polishing marine coating, which offers up to 10% fuel savings and minimizes shipping companies’ ecological footprint.
